Desk before decluttering

Just a few minutes every day this week and the desktop is pretty clean! Found bills that needed to be paid, put away a few things, recycled a few, and started going through the files on the right hand side. What do you think? Interested to know, too, how you file your used notebooks? Mine are full of ideas, but I can’t remember what’s in which. If you’re a writer, how to you handle your filled-up notebooks, idea files, etc.? And, check out the post on writers’ notebooks on A Clown on Fire.

    My used notebooks are generally stacked in a pile on the floor on the side of my desk. But because I have no way of knowing what’s in each notebook, they end up getting all messed up on the floor while I rummage through them. Congrats on the cleaning, you’re in way better shape than I am, my office area is a sty at the moment.

      So far, I”ve decided the notebooks will live on a shelf in the office, but they have been either in a pile beside the computer or scattered all over the floor in my bedroom or in the living room, or the family room, or my purse, etc., etc., etc. Thanks for the kudos on the cleaning, but it is the only place in my house that is neat right now. Seriously.

    Wow! What an inspiration you are! I put my notebooks in a box with my old vhs tapes (and some betas), but that probably doesn’t help. Really though, the office looks great!

    I have trouble with notebooks for the same reason — information gets mixed up. I have found some success with binders and plastic sheet covers, which allow me to sort and rearrange information. I also like index cards.

      I’ve been thinking of going to binders for the stuff I write on my computer. I REALLY can’t find anything in those writings! Thanks for the tip!

    Whoa. That’s really clean and organized. I have binders with sleeves, some notebooks on shelf, and a pile of assorted sizes of pages.(but I know where everything is! Really!)….It’s all so difficult because I don’t really have a space since we downsized….RC and Molly snatched the available extra spots….there is that big dog house outside that no one uses….
